I get scared when a good opportunity comes my way.

I have a coding test for a company I’ve really wanted to work at. I can’t believe my resume made it through. I’ve failed so many times—I’ve written over 100 cover letters. Korea’s job market is really tough these days. ❗️So whenever a really good opportunity comes along, I get scared that I’ll fail again. I try to fight it and just focus on preparing, but when my anxiety gets too overwhelming I START TO AVOID DOING STUFF RELATED TO IT. 😭 ❓Does anyone else feel this way? I need some tips…

Open your AI app of choice and tell what your problem is (coding test for a job you really want) and ask it to come up with a plan to help you study and provide resources and then a step by step plan. I recently had to figure out how to request compensation for a travel problem I had and I just spoke to copilot, told it the whole situation, asked it who I should approach first and fed in all the emails and stuff I had and it came up with approach, suggested the amount to claim and drafted a letter for me. Took me a few hours to do something I’d avoided for months.

Me too. But if you don’t try, the answer is 100% NO If you try, you have a 50%/50% chance. Just try without expecting to get anything out of it. (It’s easier said than done but I believe anyone can try :) you got this!

Sometimes it helps me to break the task down on ridiculously small tasks, sometimes it doesn’t but it never hurts to try

Don't close yourself off, but confess what you feel to someone you trust. I recommend this because I didn't do it until the very end, and I regretted it. Talking about it with someone helped me to unblock myself and overcome the fear of failure.

I have TOEFL exam next month and improve my writing skills have been hard. I was avoiding doing it, but I was overwhelmed because I needed to improve it, so I had an awful anxiety attack. I stayed 4 days without studying any topic about TOEFL and started again my therapy. It helped me! Sometimes we need to give a step back before go ahead.

I like that idea..! I guess it’s better to just see it as part of the process. I hope it goes well for you :)
