Focus at work
Anyone else struggle to stay on task at work? The smallest little thing will distract me and I’m gone for a little while. I’m having to work late all the time to hit my KPIs and I know it’s just because I’m so distracted 🙈

I used to work in an open office layout. I would get distracted by myself and then just when I’d get on task again someone would interrupt with a random question or whatever. The best thing I could find that helped a bit was sound cancelling headphones. And eventually I asked to move to a quieter spot ( I was in the area where everyone walked by to get to the main hall.) At one point I added up all the extra hours that I stayed and it was about half of my regular hours 😬. That’s my time and I was giving it to them for free. Not a health thing to do.
Have you tried the Pomodoro method? That's what I use. I just pull up the Pomodoro Timer web page and add my tasks right there. Then it's 25 minutes where I know exactly what I'm focused on. The 5 minute breaks in between pomodoros gives me just enough time to get my brain firing but not so long that I get sidetracked.
I'm disabled but I am like that around the house. I'll see something on a table that belongs in the bedroom and as I walk thru the house to put it in the bedroom, I see something else I left unfinished in the diningroom so I put the first thing done, do the thing in the diningroom, go to put those things where they need to be and find other things...I'll do 15 things before I finally make it back to the first item I found on the table and realize just how nuts this ADHD thing really is! I can't even imagine how you guys manage with actual jobs! I feel for you.
